Incident Summary

On January 21, 2014 Chadux was notified that a tank farm in McGrath had experienced a diesel spill in containment. An initial estimate of the spill size was 1,500 gallons. Chadux personnel worked with the RP to develop incident objectives and mobilized a team of 7 responders and 2 supervisors to assist in the cleanup. Over the next 3 weeks the crew removed contaminated snow from tank farm containment and melted the snow in a Fast Tank. Melt fluids were decanted, filtered, and staged in a final settling tank for a 24 hour observation period. Reclaimed diesel was recycled and contaminated water was discharged per a waste management plan at the city sewer parcel.

Incident Summary

On March 14, 2014 Chadux was notified that a tank farm in McGrath had experienced a diesel spill in containment. Initial estimates of the spill were about 700 gallons and Chadux worked with the RP to develop incident objectives and mobilize a response team.  Responders removed contaminated snow and melted it with the resulting liquid being decanted and filtered.  Recovered diesel was recycled and contaminated water was managed in accordance with the waste management plan.

Dalton Highway Milepost 299

Incident Summary

On June 8, 2014 Chadux mobilized to support the response to a tanker trailer rollover that occurred on the Dalton Highway.  The incident caused the release of an estimated 2,561 gallons of diesel fuel. Chadux personnel worked with RP to develop incident objectives and mobilized a team of 11 responders and 3 supervisors to assist in the cleanup. Over the next 2 weeks the crew established and implemented a system to “flush” the diesel out of the tundra utilizing a deluge system and capturing it using Shoreseal boom and absorbent material.
