Buddy Custard

General Manager

Buddy Custard is the General Manager of Alaska Chadux Corporation and also serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Alaska Maritime Prevention & Response Network. He possesses extensive knowledge and expertise working maritime operations from both the public and private sectors, including serving with the U.S. Coast Guard for over 30 years, attaining the rank of Captain, and as a senior manager with Shell Exploration & Production Company for over 3 years while it was operating in the Alaska Outer Continental Shelf.

Buddy holds broad knowledge on Arctic and Alaska maritime issues from both the industry’s and government’s perspective, ranging from search and rescue, oil spill prevention and response, offshore oil and gas exploration, law enforcement, fisheries management, domain awareness, and the significant challenges of working and supporting operations in both the Arctic and the waters of Alaska.

He served aboard seven Coast Guard cutters in both the Atlantic and Pacific regions, commanding four of the cutters while accumulating over 12 years of sea duty. Buddy further helped guide the Coast Guard’s efforts during many significant natural disaster relief efforts caused by earthquakes, floods, and hurricanes in saving lives, protecting the environment, and restoring the marine transportation system.

Buddy is a graduate of Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife biology with a minor in criminology. He earned a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and is also a graduate of the Homeland Security Executive Leaders Program, Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA.

Jaime Schauff

Office Manager

Jaime serves as Chadux’s Office Manager and Vessel of Opportunity Coordinator where she assists with the training & administrative management of the VOO program. Prior to joining Chadux, she was active for over 10 years in the Kodiak commercial fishing industry.  Jaime holds an Associates in Applied Science from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

jennifer spencer

Office Assistant

Team Member Since 2015

Jennifer assists with all office administrative and bookkeeping functions including both accounts payable and receivable. Prior to joining Chadux, she worked as an office assistant in the industrial safety products field.

 

carrie lynette

Accountant

Team Member Since 2015

Carrie serves as Chadux’s Accountant. Prior to Chadux, she was the owner/operator of a small business focused on setting up and training bookkeepers and small business owners to utilize their accounting software correctly. She has a strong construction background, with a focus on job costing in Quickbooks software.

Preparedness Manager

Team Member Since 2003

Chris manages Chadux’s training and exercise programs, including member C-Plan reviews, and also oversees all company health and safety programs. He has over 25 years of experience in the environmental services and safety industries.  Chris holds a Masters in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Alaska Anchorage, and is a Certified Environmental Trainer.

Preparedness technician

Team Member Since 2014

Paul assists with the coordination and planning of all Chadux training and exercise activities and is cross-trained as a spill responder.  Prior to joining Chadux, Paul served 11 years in the U.S. Army specializing in Explosive Ordnance Disposal and emergency management.  He holds an Associates in Occupational Health & Safety from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Chris is a fully qualified spill response technician and responds to pollution incidents across Chadux’s area of operations. Prior to joining Chadux, he served 7 years as a North Slope and western Alaska oil spill responder and industrial firefighter with Alaska Clean Seas and PENCO based in Deadhorse, Alaska.

Dan is a fully qualified spill response technician and responds to pollution incidents across Chadux’s area of operations. Prior to joining Chadux, he served over 5 years as a wildland firefighter with the State of Alaska and oil spill responder with PENCO.  Dan holds a Bachelors of Forestry from Colorado State University.

Jerith recently joined Chadux as our newest spill response technician. Prior to Chadux, he served 5 years as a North Slope oil spill responder and emergency technician for PENCO based in Deadhorse, Alaska.

cory nelson

response technician - Dutch Harbor

Team Member Since 2014

Cory is a fully qualified spill response technician and operates and maintains Chadux’s Dutch Harbor office and associated response equipment. Prior to joining Chadux, he spent over 10 years in the maritime industry in western Alaska including commercial fishing, shipping logistics, and the port authority.  He holds a Bachelors in International Business from George Fox University.
