The city of Anchorage is located at the head of Cook Inlet in Southcentral Alaska (61.218060° N and 149.90028° W). Approximately 278,000 people live in Anchorage and the city boasts an extensive infrastructure to support spill response efforts: airports, equipment and labor contractors, and medical facilities. Anchorage is a central hub on the Alaska rail and road system and is linked to the rest of the state by air.
