On December 29, 2008, Alaska Chadux was mobilized by Petro Star to respond to the Valdez refinery fire.Chadux mobilized a spill response group to recover the crude oil and glycol that was released during the fire and an incident management team (IMT) support group to assist with organizing the response.The spill response group consisted of two Chadux supervisors and six response technicians.This group worked until January 10th using heavy equipment and sorbent materials to recover and stockpile crude oil, glycol, and contaminated snow.Approximately 43,000 gallons of oily waste water and 144 bags of oily waste were generated during the response.The IMT support group (liaison, logistics, planning, and a site safety officer) worked with the RPIC to develop a daily work plan covering all operations on-site.The logistics and planning personnel were demobilized by January 4th and the site safety officer worked until January 19th.
